TECHNICAL SALES ENGINEER (Midwest)

JOB SUMMARY

LAKO is a leading manufacturer of the highest quality seal jaws, knives, rotary seal modules, and ultrasonic sealing component integration. LAKO has been serving the flexible packaging industry since 1981 with innovative sealing, cutting, and punching solutions on VFFS vertical baggers, HFFS flow wrappers, pouch sealing, and filling equipment.


The ideal candidate for this position will be will obtain and expand the company's business relationships. In order to succeed in this position the candidate must have a solid technical understanding of the company and its products compiled with sociable and outgoing personality to build rapport with potential clients.

IA, IL, KS, MN, MO,ND,NE,SD, WI

 

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Technical Sales Engineer with mechanical aptitude will be trained by LAKO to sell and work on machines requiring tooling that is used on packaging equipment mainly horizontal form fill and seal wrappers (HFFS) and vertical form fill and seal baggers (VFFS).

  • Conduct sales visits to potential and existing customers providing them with technical information along with detailed advantages of using LAKO products for the purpose of obtaining sales orders.

  • It will be essential for the Technical Sales Engineer to provide effective and detailed information on various products, programs, or services offered by LAKO.

  • During these visits the Technical Sales Engineer will be expected and must be able to provide troubleshooting answers to existing bottlenecks or downtime issues, perform fully documented line evaluations, and be able to use precision measuring instruments for the purpose of capturing dimensions of existing worn tooling used on packaging machines for the purpose of providing accurate detailed quotations.

  • The Technical Sales Engineer is expected to conduct training seminars on LAKO products.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule appointments to meet existing and potential customers in order to review product requirements and to determine other opportunities or provide solutions to existing production issues.

  • Review and document existing equipment using precision measuring instruments acquiring the necessary dimensions required to provide the customer with an accurate quotation along with providing sufficient information to work from in the event an order is placed for replacement parts.

  • Evaluate the efficiency of existing production lines while visiting customers and offer solutions to existing issues along with the benefits of using the LAKO product line.

  • Preparing sales trip reports for management approval prior to travelling.

  • Preparing sales trip summaries promptly at the conclusion of a sales trip which will include a complete task list of follow-up procedures.

  • Prepare and maintain expense accounts.

  • Perform all updating and maintenance of customer accounts including contact names and numbers for future sales within the active customer database.

  • Provide quotations to customers as needed upon review and approval by management.

  • Program alarms in the database to assist in timely follow-up schedules for all quotations that are considered potential orders until an order is placed or the project is stopped.

  • Ensure follow-up after passing leads to managers with complete profile customer information, sources, dates, next-action and making sure that notes are added in the database regarding the customer and events of the recent appointment.

  • Act as liaison with customers on sales matters, including arranging and conducting sales visits and ensuring that all activities and further action is recorded and implemented fully and promptly.

  • Practice professional demonstrations of company products or services while on-site with the customer.

  • Act as liaison between the LAKO and the customers for up-to-date condition on pricing, service and latest product release launches.

  • Act as liaison with Engineering in the progression of approval drawings during sales inquiries.

  • Provide accurate sketches of customer’s old and worn parts that needed to be quoted. This to be accomplished by using precision measuring instruments.

  • Provide set-up and installation services of LAKO manufactured products when required.

  • Continuously update all customers on company product modifications, changes, and new designs.

  • Enhance knowledge on new products, procedures, services and tools by working directly with Sales Management and Sales Team via conference meetings.

  • Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the company in a positive manner.

  • Effectively participate in conferences or trade shows when assigned.

  • Use marketing data to maximize sales effectiveness and efficiency by using relevant sales management tools.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a weekly report of sales activities.

  • Forecasting for the upcoming month of the territory assigned on a monthly basis.

  • Monthly update regarding industry needs, new product releases, competition updates and any other material that is important to our industry.

  • Communicate and inform the team of information that might aid in sales in their respective territories.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Possess 2-5 years experience in outside technical sales.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Effectively handle multiple tasks.

  • Knowledge of Office 365 (word, excel, outlook)

  • Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with company personnel, and vendors.

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments. (i.e. Micrometers, dial calipers…etc.)

  • Ability to read blueprints

GRINDER MACHINE OPERATOR

JOB SUMMARY
Do you have a strong attention to detail and a desire to ensure products retain the highest quality standards? If so, become a valuable member of our team as a grinder.

 

LAKO seeks a grinder to aid our company in its mission to deliver parts of superior quality. As one of our grinder machine operators you will program, setup, run, and inspect products as they are completed.  Provide the finishing touches on the rest by hand.  You will use your profound knowledge of how the machinery works to ensure that it remains functional by performing routine maintenance and cleaning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure grinding wheels are dressed according to specifications.

  • Provide quality control by inspecting workpieces as they come out of the equipment

  • Setup, program, and operate machinery to grind any metal workpieces to their prescribed specifications ensuring high-quality products.

  • Finish products by hand using hand tools to ensure the surfaces are filed or finished accordingly.

  • Keep all equipment running by inspecting and performing basic maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and scheduling repairs when needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:

  • Must be able to program, setup, and operate CNC Precision Grinders.

  • Ability to hold tight tolerances and produce quality work.

  • Must be able to run multiple machines.

  • Must have own measuring equipment, micrometers/indicators, etc.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 – 5 years’ experience as a grinder or manufacturing environment

  • Able to stand through the entire work shift and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Willing to work with a team and meet production requirements.

  • Willing to learn and grow in operation abilities.

  • Ability to read production instructions on a computer monitor.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and experience with CNC surface and CNC creep feed grinding. (Blohm/Jones & Shipman Machines)

  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze drawings.

  • Knowledge of machinery and equipment maintenance.

CNC MACHINIST

JOB SUMMARY

LAKO seeks a CNC machinist to aid our company in its mission to deliver parts of superior quality. As one of our CNC machine operators, you will interpret specifications, enter them into the CNC machine, setup the machine and monitor it as it operates. You will make critical contributions to our company’s reputation, ensuring the excellence of our products by following inspection protocols and detecting errors before products are released.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Machine existing and new jobs per Planning & Engineering procedure using Mastercam generated programs.

  • Verify program setups and perform at machine adjustments using cutter compensation and other techniques to achievement print tolerances.

  • Perform in-process inspections on all parts.

  • Machine work holding tight tolerances.

  • Work with Programming to assist in developing new methods to minimize operations and shorten lead times through production.

  • Communicate effectively with engineering and programming departments.

  • Have own tools and reliable transportation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma 

  • Engineering certificate or Journeyman’s card from a college or trade school preferred.

  • 3 years’ experience in CNC machining and machine set-ups.

  • Knowledge of Mazak Smooth controls and operation is a plus

  • Experience in CNC programming using Mastercam helpful.

  • Experience running turn/mill centers and 5 axis programming is a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively with team members to produce accurate, high-quality parts within tight deadlines.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings.

  • Strong mathematical skills.

  • Possess good communication skills, verbally and in writing.

  • Qualified candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
